The traditional English folk dances of this country are not only beautiful to watch but also fun to perform. That is why people meet week after week, year
after year, to learn the steps of Indian Queen, Newcastle, Mr. Beveridge's Maggot, and many more, enjoying them as much as generations of their forebears.
Most of the dances danced at the club are Playford style with the occasional contra as a variation. Beginners are given a warm welcome and plenty of help.
All the dances are 'called' (that is the sequence of steps are called out during the dance).
The Felpham and Middleton Country Dance Club was founded
in 1933. We are the oldest club in West Sussex - in fact the oldest in Southern England. It is a very friendly and fun-loving club.
The club is run by a committee and, although it is very informal, it has an AGM each year.
The Felpham & Middleton Country Dance Club is an affiliated group of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS)
